IMR: People: Lacene

[ Lacene ]
Terri, Lacene Hiroko Kalei
Aliases: Buddybuddy

I met Lacene when she was the senior administrative assistant at PBEC (where I worked from October 1998 to February 2003). She scheduled and managed the many committments of the organization's Secretary General, and was credited with essentially holding the world together with her bare hands.

She moved on to greener pastures in October 2000, wrangling the members of the Minority Republican Caucus at the Hawai`i State Legislature under Rep. Galen Fox, and in 2002, Lacene ran for office — Hawaii State Senate (District 23). I was, for a good part of the campaign season, her campaign chairman.

She is an extremely animated and lighthearted individual, and yet posesses a fantastic ability to lead, manage, and organize. When things get serious, you best not get in her way.

She also drives a shiny new Toyota Celica, which she somehow bought for a dream between jobs.

She loves kids, including Katie, but isn't quite ready to bake her own. But she regularly offers to rent our daughter instead.

Vitals:

Born July 23. Graduated from St. Andrew's Priory School and UH-Manoa (B.A., Political Science and International Relations). Currently working in the Hawai`i Legislature under Rep. Galen Fox.
