HD: North Shore

North Shore 2007 from hawaii on Vimeo.

A cool and gray day on the North Shore of O'ahu. While the dreary winter weather kept the beach clear, hardcore surfers still congregated out on the ocean to catch some waves.

One year ago, I posted "North Shore for the Holidays," recorded with my Panasonic Lumix digital camera's movie mode and cut-and-paste edited in QuickTime Pro. I return to the North Shore today with my Sanyo Xacti HD700 digital video camera, and combine the clips in Final Cut Express 4. Today's lesson: fades and dissolve transitions. Next up: titles?

The above is the embedded video player from Vimeo, one of the only online video hosts to serve up HD content. To see the HD video (and not a scaled and compressed Flash version), however, you need to view it at Vimeo or download the original movie file (1250x720/68MB/MP4). It should look great on an Apple TV.

You can also watch this video at YouTube, Google Video, and BlipTV (low quality but fast playing). DivX lovers can find this video at Studio6 (in HD). And both MPEG-4 and DivX versions of this video can be downloaded from the Internet Archive.

Talk about a zen moment! Turn the speakers up and be hypnotized. Very nice...

Ryan: I love it, but what really stood out for me is the sound quality, hope that's normal. :) Aloha, NEENZ.

Nice video Ryan. Makes me wish I was there. Which beach were you at?
