Holy flop rabbit mother of god, I'm tired.

Private Ryan Kawailani Ozawa here, reporting University aVenue Issue 3, hereafter to be known as "The Cat Issue," was completed at 5:30 a.m., not four hours ago.

Obviously, we went a little over our original timeline. I'm not sure what the bloody problem was, because this time we had loads of copy and a fair smattering of images... but, I also feel better about this issue overall than I have about the last two. Your objective opinions, pending its release, will determine whether my feelings are on target.

Yep yep yep... we've got cats. Kim would be proud. Notably, though, our writer ultimately interviewed six people for the story (a far cry from another writer who refused to add any more information to his story because "that would mean I'd have to talk to people").

We've also got Porteus (a story assignment that literally came to me in a dream), nursing school graduate job woes, and a big honkin' -- aw hell, use of all caps is justified here -- a BIG HONKIN' spread on welfare reform, starring the unforgettable Jenny Duhaylonsod.

(Good god, someone's running Facts of Life reruns.)

Gak. The limited time allowed for sleep as a result of the monumental effort is apparent, however, at least to Jen. I've been unable to hold a coherent thought for more than five minutes, and am prone to singing snatches of old tunes and declaring things like, "I've been a right bastard."

It could be worse. William's taking a test as I type.

Well, it's off to drop off these snails and puppy dog tales at Hawai`i Hochi, then to eat. Eating is good. Then to drop Jen off at work, then go to work myself. Work is good, too.

Sleep, though. Yes, ah, sleep...
