Our Apartment, Makiki, Hawai`i

After discovering how much we enjoyed visiting The Bishop Museum, we figured we'd try a family outing to The Honolulu Zoo. It was a gray and often rainy day, but at least that kept the crowds away. The place was bigger than I remembered, and we frequently got lost, but there was lots to see. Birds, reptiles, giraffes and hippos, monkeys and lemurs. We spent half our visit in The Karibuni Reserve, the big African Savanna exhibit that I remember dad working on years ago when he headed the city's parks department. Fortunately it looked much better and seemed much bigger in real life than it did on those old blueprints.
